A program partnering those who share a love of reading, connecting students and elderly through literature.
Our Mission
Elderly Book Buddies is a student led organization that aims to connect students to elders, bringing elderly people joy through their love of books.
How Does it Work?
Step 1: Buddy Match
Volunteers from local participating schools will be matched up with elderly participants from Elder Care Centers based on their needs and abilities.
Step 2: Start Reading
Once paired with students, elderly participants and their student buddy will meet to decide on a book. From then onwards, they will meet routinely to discuss and engage through fun book-club activities.
Step 3: Build Relationships
Through an active engagement of reading and discussion this program brings something to look forward to for both elderly participants and students, and forms a lifelong bond between the two.
